Virtual Warrane

warrane-bigThe Virtual Warrane Laboratory, which is on display at Customs House in Sydney's Circular Quay, is being extended due to popular demand until June 10.

The exhibit is an interactive multimedia work that is being updated weekly whilst it is on display and this virtual world presents knowledge about the cultural hertiage of the Cadi(gal) people from Sydney Cove.

User in this 3-D interactive space assume the role of a Cadi(gal) person, experiencing life in and around Sydney Cove as it was before the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788.

STEP INTO AN ANCIENT CULTURE

Virtual Warrane records, preserves and presents the stories and cultural knowledge of the Cadigal of Sydney Cove through a virtual landscape. Playing the role of a Cadi(gal) person, you guide your character through the virtual landscape of Warrane, inspired by and re-created from original artworks and historical recollections. You observe and interact with a virtual community and play out a story over one day in the life of a Cadi(gal) person.

This experience helps to depict and explain Indigenous culture and gives the user an understanding of Indigenous identity and connection to country.

A WINDOW INTO CULTURAL, SPIRITURAL AND NATURAL HISTORY

Virtual Warrane is a series of quests embedded in a virtual 3D environment based accurately on historical records and accounts of the Cadi(gal) people around pre-contact.

Virtual Warrane shows the lifestyle, ongoing connection and spiritual links the original custodians had for Warrane - this re-created environment represents the plants, animals and landscape which shaped the life of the Cadi(gal) who lived along the shores and waterways of Sydney Cove.
